Historical Updates

  • Jeff Lynne and ELO performed their first concert in 28 years at London's Hyde Park. After an aborted 2000 tour the rumors are swirling about future shows. This is on my bucket list.....
  • The Doors self produced "lost" documentary 'Feast of Friends' is set to be released on DVD/Blu-Ray later this year. The 1968 feature was never really finished but will be released in some form or fashion in November.
  • DRI is set to release their first new music since 1995, an EP. DRI has remained active on the touring circuit.
  • Cat Stevens will play several shows in North America, his first since 1976, hitting Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago and the Canadian city of Toronto.
  • And this week in Rock History:
    • 30 years ago  the Mark II lineup of Deep Purple reunited and released Perfect Strangers, certainly on par with anything else this lineup released.
    • 35 years ago the No Nukes shows were held at MSG in New York, followed by a triple album release and the compilation concert film of the same name.
    • 35 years ago Quadrophenia was released. As the film was being prepared (1978) Keith Moon passed away overdosing on a sedative prescribed for alcohol withdrawal.
