  • Scott Weiland has asked Stone Temple Pilots to "buy him out" - in the end it's always about the money. Meanwhile STP has announced the release of their EP featuring Chester Bennington on lead vocals.
  • Plano is getting a music festival in conjunction with Live Nation. The two day fest is scheduled to take place in May of 2014.
  • Long time Nazareth frontman Dan Mcafferty has decided to retire after two on stage collapses due to issues with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, leaving bassist Pet Agnew as the only remaining founding member.
  • There are reports coming out of Korea that several members of a  pop group, including a former girlfriend of Kim Jong-un, have been executed for the selling and distribution of sex tapes, with their families being sent to labor camps for guilt by association. Isn't that what makes you a star over here in the good ol' US of A?
  • Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.....

Tuesday Update!!

Because I am just now getting to them....

  • Led Zeppelins first ever performance in Denmark will be honored with a Plaque at the place it all started.  The Yardbirds were originally booked for the bill but had broke up prior to the show. Zep took the stage as "The New Yardbirds" changing their name shortly thereafter.
  • Last Monday there was yet another stage collapse in Cleveland due to high winds. Mercy Me was scheduled to perform but damage was deemed to excessive for clean up and performing. Fortunately no one was harmed as this happened prior to the scheduled show.
  • Rob Hallet, UK AEG Live promotor, thinks ticket prices are too cheap due to the fact they are sold on the secondary market for an increased value - While in the same article claims none of their shows sold out this year. I am not even sure what the point is in arguing this, go ahead and raise your prices and see how many less people show up next year........
  • For your ultimate music lawsuit(s) fix check out this link - including Happy Birthday, Neil Young vs. Geffen, Harrison and Fogerty plagiarizing themselves and the infamous Judas Priest "backward masking" case.

Friday Updates

  • Richie Havens ashes will be spread over Yasgur's Farm - the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival.
  • Cowboy Jack Clement has passed on to the Sun Studios in the Sky. He had been hosting a Saturday show on XM, which I would catch occasionally, but his accolades include producing "Ring of Fire" and discovering Jerry Lee Lewis, among many other achievements.
  • Robert Plant has launched a new website - Squeeze my Lemon!
  • The two pictures below are from the following articles respectively:
