Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings of the bluebird as she sings....

Random Post Soujourn Updates

Been out of town for a while so...

  • The Black Sabbath reunion has been called off, in between Iommi's cancer battles and Bill Ward's contract issues this might be best for now.
  • The following people pass on: Otus, Clive Shakespeare, Jon McIntire, Micheal Davis, Mike Melvoin and many more. Check them all out at The Musics Over.
  • Jerry Gaskill, drummer for King's X, suffered a heart attack.
  • Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power is getting a 20th anniversary deluxe edition release.

  • So everyone seems to have something to say, even Gary Cherone, about Van Halen at the moment. Dear Gary and Sammy (and Michael-even though you have been quiet) YOU ARE BETTER OFF WERE YOU ARE.
  • Iron Maiden are returning to Dallas in the heat of August at-you guessed it-Starplex. Apparently this is another of what they are calling the "History of Iron Maiden" tour. Unfortunately Alice Copper is playing some of the early bills but not Bid D.
  • The remaining members of Pantera have been offered a huge sum of money for a one-off reunion with  "special" guest guitarists (rumored to be Zakk Wylde). Vinnie has basically gone and told them to stick it. No Dime, No Pantera.
  • Public Image Ltd. are set to release their first album in 20 years....
  • Rocklahoma ain't what is used to be, not that it's a bad lineup-just not what it started as.

Whitney Houston Dead at 48

The pop icon, who's drug addictions eventually overshadowed (and possibly ruined) her once famous voice, was found dead in her tub Saturday afternoon. I have heard the autopsy is complete but they are withholding information for know. Her final film, Sparkle, is set for release in August.

Deep Thoughts by.....

  • ESPN and Van Halen have teamed up but for the life of me I can't get it to stream in IE or Firefox.
  • Sirius/XM's The Boneyard is now Ozzy's Boneyard, haven't noticed much difference yet but I am sure there will be some changes.
  • And apparently Bill Ward unfortunately will not be involved in the Black Sabbath reunion, these guys go through more legalities....
  • btjunkie, one of the more popular bit torrent sites, voluntarily shut itself down recently. Will the Pirate Bay be the last one standing before long?
  • For those of you who watched the Superbowl Halftime show, did you know you were viewing a satanic ceremony? GEEEZZZZ!!!

  • Van Halen played a "secret" show last night, mostly for media members. Meanwhile Diamond Dave says the material really isn't new. From what little I have heard of the album, and it isn't much, if this is really old material was there a reason it hasn't been released before? However I will give it a fair chance once in my hands.
  • Leslie West has made it back to the concert circuit following his leg amputation. This is one band/person I haven't had a chance to see. Check it out the video below, Mr. West had a little trouble making it through his opener.
  •  This looks good-the 50 Worst Albums Ever. Just a preview for now but I will keep following.
  • Dick Kniss, bassist for Peter, Paul and Mary passed away last Friday.
  • Today is the anniversary of the last gig by three different acts at the Surf Ballroom in Iowa in 1959. Their plane would crash the next day-The Day the Music Died.

SSSOOOOOUUUUULLL TRAIN!

Don Cornelius, creator and host of the legendary Soul Train, has passed on, unfortunately by an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound. I am not sure I know of any one my age (or older) that didn't watch this show at some point in their life-whatever the reason may have been. Don was 75 years of age....
