Friday Updates

  • Happy Birthday Mick Jagger.....
  • Morrissey cancels so many concerts I am not even sure what the point of him booking tours is (are?)-much less an oft rumored Smiths reunion.
  • The previously reported Baltimore ticket law was amended per the stipulations below:
"Councilman Carl Stokes introduced a bill June 3 that would have created a tiered system to cap fees on ticket prices. The measure set out to limit fees to 15 percent of the first $50 of a ticket, an additional 10 percent for the next $50 to $150 and another 5 percent for amounts larger than that.
The bill would have also required ticket sellers to disclose the complete price of a ticket including fees up front."

  • Spinal Tap are contemplating a return. If you haven't seen the other projects these boys have been involved in, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, etc. you are missing out.
  • Once again I am in the rare position of not having tickets to any upcoming shows. This situation will have to be rectified.

Dueling Bands Update

Bun E. Carlos, along with former manager David Frey, are suing the remaining members of Cheap Trick for monies and the right to use Cheap Trick's name without him. And apparently some of the funds involved covering the costs of damaged and/or lost equipment due to the 2011 stage collapse, of which in turn Cheap Trick is suing the organizers of the festival. My understanding had been  that Bun E. was not a current touring member but was still involved with Cheap Trick but apparently he was  "fired" at some point in the past. Full story here.

AND Jack White and Great White have settled their dispute. Both will continue touring under their current monikers while all other details remained confidential. I am not sure what was settled but how much did both parties pay to continue on as they have been for the past three years?

Dueling Band List
  • Bun E. Carlos & David Frey vs. Cheap Trick

Friday Updates

  • Jason Bonham wants to perform with a hologram of Bonzo - from reading the article it won't be his current tour trek with Heart.
  • The best comment from the Rolling Stone Facebook (groan) page concerning the current cover-"I called and cancelled my subscription, and I don't even have one." You know they say there is no such thing as "bad" publicity.....
  • Thom Yorke has pulled his solo albums from Spotify over, guess what, musician royalties.
  • Cheap Trick is suing  organizers of the Ottawa Bluesfest over their 2011 stage collapse, one of many that year.
  • 10 albums you can here now - including Gogol Bordello!
  • Kid Rock is tomorrow - with reduced entry and supposedly reduced concession prices. If beer is at a reduced price I may have more fun people watching than the show itself.  This will be the first time I have used my credit card as an entry method to a show as well. You can't resell the "good" seats......
