Nothing Matters but the Weekend

  • On this day in  1968 at theTeen Club Box 45 in Gladsaxe, Copenhagen in front of a crowd of 1,200 or so The "New" Yardbirds played their first show. The Yardbirds at this time consisted of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Robert Plant & John Bonham.......
  • Rumour is Zep's 2007 tribute show for Ahmet will be released on DVD in November. According to Guinness World Records 2009, the concert holds the world record for the "Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert" as 20 million requests for the 18,000 available seats were made online. I was one of those requests....
  • In between Eddie Van Halen (apparently almost dying), Billie Joe Armstrong and Paul Gray, there is a lot of health related music issues.
  • For those of you into sports, and if you watched NFL's opening game Wednesday, including the pre-game show, the music really sucked ass.
  • Amazingly enough, even though I haven't posted Friday updates in two weeks, there is no dueling Queensryche new to report......

  1. WHAT!!!! No new Queenryche news! say it ain't so! This is like "All My Children" or "General Hospital" going on hiatis! please find something for next week! On another note... In defense of the bands that played pregame show Wednesday, Mariah, No Doubt, etc, I will have to say that this was a network malfunction. I mean anybody that attempted to sing a note sounded horrible, unbearable, so bad, it was turn the volume down bad! The kids walked thru the room complaing about how bad the music was... We know these bands are not bad, even if you do not care for Mariah she can still sing. Gwen, well we all know she and No Doubt are good just not on this day! So to NBC they need to re-evaluate their sound boards or something, because even sitting in the best seat in the house (right in front of the sound board) would not help here... I will say though for anyone that got to see it, The Foo Fighters put on a great 2 song acoustic set at the DNC Thursday! If you caught it live it was cool and funny at the same time watching the young and old alike jam out and some even bouncing or light mosh bumps. The sound was great, and going all acoustic for My Hero and Walk not only allowed you to take in the music but also get the message of the words!
