- Steve Jobs, creator of the iPod & iPhone has died. MP3's were around long before the iPod but there is not doubt he pushed digitized music to the forefront of the music industry-iTunes is the worlds largest online music retailer.
- Folk guitarist Bert Jansch passed. I am not familiar with his work but he was an inspiration for quite a few big names.
- Marv Tarplin, guitarist for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles passed. Interesting trivia fact-he was the guitarist for a group called the Primettes, who morphed into the Supremes after his departure.
- Sylvia Robinson-founder of Sugar Hills records passed. You guessed it-Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash etc. recorded on this label.
