Is now the Gexa Energy Pavilion-in between this and "Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie" changing names every two years, I can't remember all the names both these venues have had. I will probably always refer to them as Starplex and Nokia, as so many of my friends do.
Bonus-I just found all the official names Starplex has had, no such luck for Nokia....

Alice in Chains is doing an acoustic only show in Thackerville, OK at Winstar on Feb. 5th. Doesn't fit into my schedule at the moment as the Superbowl is that weekend in ARLINGTON and we are trying to do some events here in Funkytown (that is Fort Worth for all you non natives). Hopefully there will be more shows of this ilk in the future. Right now it is there only tour date listed....

Random news
- Apparently Van Halen are in the studio recording, although you can't tell from the web site. I have heard this rumor on numerous fronts, including the ultimate source, my neighbor, who is a VH freak. Let's see we had the fake reunion, a double legged tour, and now an album-I am still waiting on this thing to implode.
- The Grateful Dead, who hardly ever seemed to make it to Texas, are releasing an entire tour on CD. A 60 CD box set containing 22 shows from their Europe 1972 tour. This is considered the greatest tour ever by the Dead, and for a band with their mileage that is not a light statement. It will set you back a hefty amount though....
- I have heard rumor of a Pearl Jam anniversary festival show thingy.
- To your right the beginning of the list-every band I have seen. It will take a little while to get together. The "*top*" bands are the last show I have seen, otherwise the asterisks indicate the number of times seen. And in case you are wondering I have 95% of the ticket stubs to prove it.....

A plethora of updates...
Haven't updated in a while so...
Real Punk Radio
- Seen a great show last Friday night with my good friend Jerry-Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats and Suburban Legends at HOB Dallas-still a great venue and awesome show. And Flogging Molly is coming up...
- Flaming Lips
isare playingnext weekweek after next as well, it is going to be hard to pass that one up. - Vince Neil is going to jail for drunk driving (only two weeks) last time this happened circumstances were much more dire.
- Holy shit I just read Don Kirshner died a few days ago-among his many other contributions he penned "You've Lost That Feeling" for the Righteous Brothers.
- Also dead in this week drummer Alex Kirst (Nymphs, Iggy Pop) and Tommy Crain, guitarist for the Charlie Daniels Band.
- Crosby and Nash are hitting the road-I have seen CSN and CSN&Y, still might be interesting in a small venue.
- I love seeing the classic rock acts and metal bands from the past but some of these guys are getting up there in the years, not that I am getting any younger.....
- This just in-Nickelback still sucks...
- I was actually able to work at my desk today and listen to a great punk show on realpunkradio.com-the Po-Dunk Punk Show. Links below including a playlist for today..

Drowning Pool
Apparently Drowning Pool has had to defend itself more than once about the choice of music preferred by Jared Loughner. It seems that as soon as the media makes a perceived connection between music, some warped individual and a tragic event that it is the "music's fault". We have heard it before-Judas Priest, Marilyn Manson, Metallica etc. Link below-I refuse to post the Washington Post article but you can get to from there.
