Rolling Stone Reader Poll

According to Rolling Stone readers these are the Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time:

1) Master Of Puppets - METALLICA
2) Paranoid - BLACK SABBATH
3) Black Sabbath - BLACK SABBATH
4) The Number Of The Beast - IRON MAIDEN
5) ...And Justice For All - METALLICA
6) Reign In Blood - SLAYER
7) Appetite For Destruction - GUNS N' ROSES
8) Metallica - METALLICA
9) Led Zeppelin II - LED ZEPPELIN
10) Ride The Lightning - METALLICA

Not that I disagree with any of the albums on the list, well except for Justice, but there are far too many excluded, including two of The Big Four, Megadeth & Anthrax. With that being said I am not sure any Anthrax album would made the Top 10 list, but Megadeth could have an inclusion. I am glad to see Maiden and Slayer made the list as well.  A few others of note that could have been included: Judas Priest, Motorhead, Pantera, Ozzy, AC/DC, System of a Down-I could go on.....

HOWEVER-I found a much more inclusive list below at Metal Rules. Check these guys out-looks like they do most of there work for the love of metal!

Hump Day

  • Although there is always a lot of music news out there it is really just a matter of opinion what is put in this blog so....
  • Today is the anniversary of both the No Nukes concert and the Concert in Central Park with Simon & Garfunkel.
  • Also on this day Gram Parsons died of what eventually was ruled an overdose. If you don't know the background on his final wishes regarding burial do some research. There is a particular movie regarding but I don't know how accurate it is so I won't recommend.
  • The Stones are releasing another concert film. Man over the last 10 years or so the Stones have unearthed and released some classic concerts. Also on this day Tattoo You, the last great Stones album, started its run at #1.

  • Although one of the press releases states theatrical tickets on are sale Sept. 13th, the same day the article was published, I have just confirmed this is not the case and tickets are not on sale yet.

As Led Zeppelin week continues...

The mighty Zeppelin will be honored by the Kennedy Center in December:

"The award is given for lifetime achievement in the performing arts. David M. Rubenstein, the chairman of the Kennedy Center, said the recipients demonstrated “extraordinary talent, creativity and tenacity” over their careers."

And Cineplex has announced the 2007 show will now be shown in theaters in "40 territories worldwide". Friggin Awesome!
