Friday Updates

  • According to a Baltimore ordinance anything charged above .50 cents over the face value of a ticket is considered scalping (which I guess is illegal in Baltimore?). Guess where that puts Ticketmaster at. Baltimore Law Condemned.
  • I understand the "Ticketmaster is a monopoly" situation and they probably charge too much for service fees etc. however we live in a free enterprise system and they cannot provide a service for free. Do you understand how easy it is to now buy tickets at a one stop shop? I think the bigger issues at hand are the initial price of the ticket to begin with and the right to resell tickets. Couple that with the fact that the artists themselves resell their own tickets and you cannot even sniff the front row tickets on Ticketmaster due to the fact that these tickets are distributed by other means and these are the issues that need to be resolved. Perfect example is the current Kid Rock tour where all seats are $20 (plus service fees of course). That is all seats except the Platinum packages that Live Nation was offering for the "good seats" which could run up to $300 each.
  • Scott Weiland has of course counter sued Stone Temple Pilots-And he is citing the the same partnership agreement that the band is in their suit.
  • After a farewell tour 13 YEARS AGO, and a statement that KISS could continue forever, even without Paul and Gene, Gene now says KISS will be gone in 5-10 years.
  • If you missed it the Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Honors presentation is below.
