- Earl Scruggs, of both Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys and his own band, The Foggy Mountain Boys (along with Lester Flatts) passed away at age 88. If you remember in Oh Brother Where Art Thou, there was a tribute to them as the characters represented themselves as "The Soggy Mountain Boys". Oh yeah they also wrote the theme to The Beverly Hillbillies among other achievements.

As the story goes-according to Joe Lynn Turner (from an interview on That Metal Show) the person, Andrew Aycock, who flew the plane that crashed with Randy was either the bus driver or about to be hired as the bus driver for Rainbow. However Ritchie Blackmore would not have anything to do with him because he had a "black aura" and was either dismissed or never hired. Nevertheless he ended up working for Ozzy and eventually caused the death of himself, Randy and one other. There are numerous other controversial details to go along with this. Randy died 30 years ago this day-one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived, a career cut tragically short by the circumstances above.

Randomness
- KISS and Motley Crue are teaming up for a co-headlining tour-featuring full stage shows by both bands......
- The Stones will not tour this year for their 50th Anniversary, according to them 2013 is more appropriate for such. Regardless of when it is I will be there.
- The Vans Warped Tour and Rocklahoma have announced lineups.Although Rocklahoma has changed over the last few years it boasts quite a lineup this year if this type of music is to your ilk-however seeing Creed in the lineup was a bit disappointing. The Vans Warped tour is turning very "poppy".
- Bonnaroo will feature Danzig doing one his legacy sets-if he makes it down here with such this is a must. In addition the Bonnarro lineup includes Flogging Molly and Bad Brains as well-Holy Shit.
- I am getting a little tired of reporting deaths however Michael Hosack passed recently-use the links at your left for more info.

Belated Updates
- I had some unexpected downtime last week-between this and my vacation updates have been lacking so....
- This should make Eddie Trunk somewhat happy-Rush is receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Revolver Golden God awards-some type of accolade for them is long overdue.
- It is getting harder to resist going to the current Van Halen tour, they are dusting off rarities and adding different songs to their setlist-nevertheless between them and other concerts I would like to see it will be difficult.
- Those other concerts are: Rammstein, Slipknot, Stone Roses (still waiting on US dates), Maiden and still have tickets to the postponed Adam Ant. And those are just off the top of my head.
- Bugs Henderson passed away last week-never got a chance to see him. Also gone is the voice of Disco Inferno. Click the links to your left to see me .
- There is a new study out that rock music makes white people more racist. I completely disagree-in fact I usually find the complete opposite at most of the shows I go to.
